Come to the table
the greenhouse set
this morning.

Dinner nightly, brunch Saturday and Sunday, lunch Tuesday through Friday — 4227 Greenway Boulevard, a working farm four minutes from the kitchen door.

What to Expect

A working farm, a working kitchen, and the short walk between them.

Steve's Greenhouse Grill is a chef-driven American grill anchored to a 4-acre on-site greenhouse that supplies more than 240 varieties of herbs, microgreens, heirloom vegetables, and edible flowers to the kitchen each morning. Founded in 2009 by Chef Steve Marrone, the restaurant seats 140 guests in the main dining room, with a 24-seat chef's counter overlooking the hearth and a 16-seat private cellar below.

The menu rotates every 14 days based on what was harvested that morning, the open-fire hearth runs on sustainable oak and fruitwood sourced within 50 miles, and steaks are dry-aged in a Himalayan salt chamber for a minimum of 28 days. Whether you arrive for dinner, weekend brunch, weekday lunch, or a private evening in the cellar, you are eating from a farm that is, quite literally, attached to the kitchen.

A Note from the Kitchen

"By the time you sit down, the menu has already been written — by the greenhouse. I walk the rows at six in the morning, and whatever is at its peak that day becomes the plate. If you came last week and order the same dish tonight, it will be a different dish. That is the promise of a kitchen that is four steps from the field."

— Chef Steve Marrone Executive Chef & Founder · Wauwatosa, Wisconsin

Arrival Notes

Four things to know before you pull into the driveway.

Practical information our regulars wish they had known on their first visit. Anything else — allergies, anniversaries, surprise cakes — just call the host desk and we will take care of it.

  1. 01

    Parking

Free on-site lot with 92 spaces directly behind the restaurant, plus 18 additional spots along the greenhouse lane. There is no street parking on Greenway Boulevard and we do not validate at the municipal garage two blocks south — the on-site lot is the move.

  2. 02

    Dress Code

Smart casual. Most guests arrive in dark jeans or trousers with a collared shirt; jackets are welcome but never required. We politely ask that guests refrain from athletic wear, beachwear, and open-toed footwear in the main dining room after 7:00 pm.

  3. 03

    Walk-Ins

The 24-seat chef's counter holds back four stools nightly for walk-in guests — first come, first seated from 5:00 pm. The bar also takes walk-ins for cocktails and the full menu, with a separate lounge menu available after 9:00 pm. The main dining room is reservation only.

  4. 04

    Groups & Accessibility

Parties of 7 or more are routed through our Private Events team and seated in the 16-seat cellar. The restaurant, restrooms, and greenhouse tour path are fully ADA accessible, with step-free entry, accessible restrooms on both floors, and a service-animal-friendly policy throughout.

Questions Guests Ask

The rest of what planners, concierges, and first-time guests typically ask.

If your question is not answered here, the host desk is staffed seven days a week from 2:00 pm until close. We would rather answer a question twice than leave a guest unsure.

Do I need a reservation?
For the main dining room, yes — we strongly recommend booking 2 to 4 weeks ahead for prime weekend seatings, and 60 days ahead for anniversaries, holidays, and chef's counter seats. The chef's counter holds four walk-in stools nightly and the bar takes walk-ins throughout service. For private events, contact [email protected] or call the host desk.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for 24 hours' notice on parties of up to 6, and 72 hours' notice on parties of 7 or more. Same-day cancellations or no-shows on held reservations are charged $25 per guest. Cancellations due to illness, weather emergencies, or family circumstances are always waived at our discretion — call us and we will work it out.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, and pescatarian menus are available on every service with advance notice. Because the menu rotates every 14 days and 68% of our ingredients come from the on-site greenhouse, we can frequently accommodate allergies and restrictions that are difficult elsewhere. Please note restrictions when booking, and reconfirm with your server on arrival.
Do you sell gift cards?
Digital and physical gift cards are available in any denomination from $50 to $2,000 through the Reservations page, by phone at +1 (414) 555-0188, or at the host stand. Gift cards do not expire and can be redeemed against food, beverage, private events, or greenhouse experiences.
Are children welcome?
Children are warmly welcomed at brunch and lunch, and at dinner before 7:00 pm. After 7:00 pm, we ask that families with children under 10 consider the chef's counter or bar area, which tends to be a more relaxed setting. A children's menu ($14) is available at all daytime services, and high chairs, booster seats, and coloring sheets are on hand.
May I take photographs?
Casual photography of your own table, the food, and the dining room is always welcome and encouraged. For engagement, proposal, or commercial photography — and for any session involving tripods, lighting equipment, or other guests in frame — please contact the host desk at least one week in advance so we can reserve an appropriate time and space.
How do I plan a private event?
We host rehearsal dinners, corporate gatherings, milestone birthdays, and wedding receptions in three dedicated spaces — the 16-seat Private Cellar, a 40-seat Greenhouse Pavilion, and full-restaurant buyouts for up to 180 seated guests. Our events team handled 312 private events in 2024, ranging from 12-guest dinners to 240-guest corporate galas. Please visit Private Events or email [email protected].
